County Library Looking for Acts for Vinyl Day Contest

The county’s library system is looking for acts to enter the “Make Music Montgomery” contest that will take place during the Just for the Record—A Vinyl Day event on Saturday, April 18 at the Silver Spring Library.

Acts can audition live or submit a recording. Each entry must include a live musical performance, though elements such as dance can be included, according to a press release.

The performances will be held from noon–4 p.m. before a panel of community judges who will pick first and second place winners.

The Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc. will provide the first prize valued at $100 and second prize valued at $50.

Auditions will be held at the Twinbrook Library at 202 Meadow Hall Dr. in Rockville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Interested participants will need to RSVP to [email protected] to secure a slot.

Those who can’t make the audition can submit a three-minute audio/video recording, in any common format (flash drive, CD-ROM, DVD, MP3 or MP4 file, etc.).

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] by midnight on Monday, March 8. They also may be delivered to Eric Carzon at the Twinbrook Library by 8 p.m. on Monday, March 8.

Complete rules and submission guidelines are available on the Vinyl Day website. For more information, contact Carzon by email at [email protected] or telephone at 240.777.0249.
