The county’s Department of Transportation—Transit Services Division will hold a public workshop tonight (March 3) to present the latest proposed revisions to 10 Ride On bus routes.
The workshop will be held at Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd. East, at 6:30 p.m.
The changes are being proposed to routes along the U.S. 29 corridor, which will be served by Bus Rapid Transit (FLASH) service. FLASH is expected to begin operating later this year.
Two routes, Route 14 and Route 129, would be replaced under the proposal; Routes 12 and 19 would cover the current Route 13, while Route 129 will be replaced by the FLASH service.
The routes, with links to maps of proposed revisions, include:
- Route 8– Wheaton-Forest Glen-Silver Spring (see map revision)
- Route 9– Wheaton-Four Corners-Silver Spring
- Route 10– Twinbrook-Glenmont-White Oak-Hillandale
- Route 12– Takoma-Flower Avenue-Wayne Avenue-Silver Spring
- Route 14– Takoma-Piney Branch Road-Franklin Avenue-Silver Spring
- Route 19– Northwood-Four Corners-Silver Spring (see map revision)
- Route 21– Briggs Chaney-Tamarack-Dumont Oaks-Silver Spring (see map revision), and
- Route 22– Hillandale-White Oak-FDA-Silver Spring (check back for map update).
Any final changes would be postponed until this fall, according to the department’s website.
