David Blair has requested a partial recount of ballots in the Democratic primary race for county executive, according to a report in The Washington Post.

Blair, the Potomac businessman who largely self-financed his campaign, lost the election by 79 votes to Councilmember Marc Elrich (D-At Large). The county’s Board of Elections certified the results on Monday.

Blair is asking for a recount of both rounds of absentee ballots, provisional ballots, all ballots cast at an early-voting center in Potomac, and those in precinct 02-06, located at Hallie Wells Middle School in Clarksburg, the Post reported.

BOE attorney Kevin Karpinski told the paper that Blair would have to post a bond of $23,466.35 with the circuit court to cover the cost of the recount, which is expected to begin Monday.
