The County Council has extended the deadline to apply for a seat on the Charter Review Commission until Wednesday, Dec. 23, according to a press release.
No more than six members from the same party can sit on the commission, so the council is seeking Republicans, unaffiliated people or members of another party recognized by the Board of Elections, as long as it’s not the Democratic Party.
“The Commission researches and evaluates Charter issues raised by the County Executive, County Council, other government officials and the public,” according to the release. “Commission reports are submitted no later than May 1 of every even-numbered year. These reports contain recommendations concerning any proposed charter amendments.”
The current commission’s term will expire on Dec. 4, 2022.
Letters expressing interest, along with a résumé no longer than four pages, including professional and civic experience, political party affiliation, home and office telephone numbers and an e-mail address can be submitted via email to Council President Tom Hucker at [email protected] or mailed to the Office of the Montgomery County Council, 100 Maryland Avenue, 4th Floor, Rockville, MD 20850.
The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on Dec. 23.
