MCEDC to Begin Awarding Second Round of Restaurant Relief Grants

The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation will begin accepting applications for a second round of relief grants for county restaurants on Monday, Feb. 1, the corporation announced.

Restaurants, food trucks, caterers, wineries and breweries that did not get a Phase 1 grant are eligible for an award of $10,000 from $4.9 million in state funds the county received.

In the first round of grants, 836 businesses applied, and 793 (95%) were awarded $10,000 each. During Phase 2, the original recipients will get an automatic $5,000 supplemental grant, provided that they are still open and meet all prior eligibility requirements, according to an MCEDC press release.

Additional information, including eligibility requirements, is available online; the application will be posted shortly as well.

New applications for Phase Two grants will open Feb. 1 and must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 10. All grants will be awarded by March 15.
