The County Council has announced it is looking for applicants for an upcoming vacancy on the Planning Board.
Commissioner Tina Patterson’s term ends June 14 and she has indicated that she will apply for another term, according to a press release. Applications to fill the position are due no later than March 23 at 5 p.m.
Board members are paid $30,000 per year for a four-year term and are expected to attend several meetings each week, including the regular Thursday weekly meeting, as well as spend time in preparatory work and other related activities.
Since no more than three members can come from the same political party, and three Democrats currently hold seats, the successful applicant must be Republican, a voter who declines to affiliate with a party, such as Patterson, or a member of another party officially recognized by the Montgomery County Board of Elections
Each member must be a resident and registered voter of Montgomery County when appointed.
From the release: “Letters of application expressing interest, including a resume (no more than 4 pages) listing professional and civic experience, political party affiliation, home and office telephone numbers and an email address, should be addressed to: Council President Tom Hucker and emailed to [email protected], or mailed to County Council Office, Stella B. Werner Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
Letters of application and resumes are made public as part of the appointment process, and are available for public review. The interviews are conducted in public and will be televised.
Each applicant will be sent a financial disclosure form that must be submitted. Only the selected applicant’s disclosure form will be made public.
