The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is waiving adoption fees for cats and kittens this month in Operation: Feline Freedom.
“MCASAC will be launching the event with more than 50 cats and kittens available for adoption. New animals are made available every day,” according to the announcement.
The fee to adopt a cat is $50 while the kitten fee is $100; there is no charge to adopt a cat more than 8 years old.
Interested residents can visit the shelter in person to adopt an animal, or fill out the adoption questionnaire online and reserve a spot to speak to an MCASAC counselor.
Prior to taking either action, potential adopters should review the pre-adoption checklist and understand that filling out a questionnaire does not guarantee or reserve an animal for adoption, which is first come first served.
The shelter is open to visitors noon–7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and noon–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The shelter is closed to the public on Wednesdays.
In addition, the shelter will be closed to the public on July 4 and 5.
The adoption fee waiver for this event is sponsored by the nonprofit Montgomery County Partners for Animal Well-Being.
