County to Begin Distributing N95 Masks at Libraries on Friday

The county will begin distributing free N95 masks, in addition to COVID–19 at-home test kits, at library branches beginning Friday, Jan. 21, officials announced.

“A key element that helps reduce community transmission is the wearing of a high-quality face covering,” County Executive Marc Elrich said in a press release. “We know that masks work and having these higher quality face masks as compared to simple face coverings, increases protection.”

The masks are adult-sized (child-sized masks are not available) and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while limited supplies last.

Locally, masks will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Silver Spring and White Oak library branches.

Residents can also pick up masks from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3 to 5 p.m. at Long Branch and Wheaton libraries.
