Several jurisdictions have announced closings and scheduling changes for the Labor Day holiday Monday. Sept. 5.
In Montgomery County, county offices and libraries will be closed, while all Alcohol Beverage Services stores will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
County-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing clinics will be closed.
At the state level, offices and courts will be closed, including the Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations.
In the transit systems, Ride On will operate on a Sunday schedule, while Ride On extra and Flex will not be n service. Flash will run on a weekend schedule, meaning Orange Line only.
The TRiPS Commuter store in Silver Spring will be open 10 .m.–4 p.m. while the TRiPS Mobile Commuter Bus will not be in service.
Metrorail will operate on its Sunday holiday schedule with service from 7 a.m.-midnight, while Metrobus and Metro Access will operate on a Sunday schedule.
Parking at county garages, surface lots and street meters will be free on Labor Day.
County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made on Labor Day. Collections will slide one day during the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed.
County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m., with the exception of the Upper County outdoor pool (which will be closed). Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center and Olney Swim Center facilities will close at 6 p.m., while the Germantown Indoor Swim Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Swim Center will be closed.
Community recreation and senior centers will be closed Saturday, Sept. 3 through Monday Sept. 5.
Many indoor facilities within the Montgomery Parks system will be closed. More information is available online.
In Takoma Park, all city offices and facilities will close Sunday, Sept. 4 and on Labor Day. Monday’s yard trimming pick up will be cancelled. The Police Department office will be closed on Monday, though officers will be available in emergencies.
