Local Veterans Day Closings and Schedule Changes Announced

Local jurisdictions and agencies have announced closings and schedule changes for the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, Nov. 11.

Montgomery County offices, libraries and county-run COVID-19 vaccination and testing clinics will be closed, though Alcohol Beverage Services stores will be open regular hours.

Takoma Park city offices, including the police department, will be closed on Friday.

State offices and courts, including the Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations, will be closed.

Ride On, Ride On extRa, and Ride On Flex will operate on a holiday schedule, which can be viewed online. Flash will operate the Orange Line only on the holiday. The TRiPS Silver Spring Commuter store will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., while the mobile commuter store will be closed.

Metrorail will operate on its Saturday holiday schedule, with trains operating from 5 a.m.-1 a.m. (five Red Line stations will be closed Saturday and Sunday).

Metrobus and Metro Access will operate on a Saturday Supplemental schedule. The MARC Train and Commuter Bus will operate on its “R” schedule on all three lines.

The county’s aquatic centers will operate on normal schedules.

Community recreation and senior centers will be closed, but after-school programs at some community recreation centers will remain open. Contact local centers for additional information.

County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made on Friday. Those collections will be made on Saturday, Nov. 12. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed Friday.

Montgomery Parks headquarters and permit offices, along with the public information and customer service office, will be closed. Many other facilities and programs will be open; complete information is available online.

Finally, all parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters will be free in Friday.
