The county’s Office of the County Attorney is looking for attorneys or retired judges who would be interested in serving as special counsel to the new Police Accountability Board and Administrative Charging Committee.
The two groups review issues and public complaints related to the police department, municipal police departments and the Sheriff’s Office.
The selected individual will be chosen by the county attorney and approved by the County Council. He or she will be responsible for advising the PAB and ACC concerning legal issues related to their work.
“Active membership in the Maryland Bar is required,” according to a press release. “Retired judges that are no longer sitting before any courts and lawyers with prior experience in civil rights litigation, criminal prosecution, and criminal defense are encouraged to apply. The selected lawyer will be paid an hourly rate set by the county attorney.”
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter of interest, curriculum vitae with references, by email, to John P. Markovs, County Attorney, 101 Monroe St., Third Floor, Rockville, MD 20850, [email protected], by Friday, March 3.
