A virtual open house will be held Wednesday evening to discuss proposed changes to the county’s Ride On bus system.
The Coalition for Smarter Growth and the Action Committee for Transit will join the county’s Department of Transportation and the Ride On Reimagined team at the meeting to discuss proposed changes to the bus route network in Montgomery County, answer questions, and receive feedback.
According to MCDOT, the Ride On Reimagined study will result in significant changes to how county transit operates based on current and future needs. The study will analyze the county’s existing and planned transit systems, including Metrobus services within county limits and the upcoming Purple Line. By analyzing data and engaging the community, the study will also be able to guide the future direction of Ride On. In both Ride On and Metrobus services, the study will recommend system-wide changes addressing the current and future needs of the community it serves.
Ride On Reimagined evaluates the current conditions of Ride On’s service area and what it expects to be like in the future. This study will involve community leaders, activists, transit riders, and support organizations to gather feedback. Market research, land use development, and anticipated technological advancements will be used to evaluate route structure, connectivity, span, and frequency of service. Additionally, a study will also look at how the county plans to improve racial equity and prevent climate change, and how Ride On’s branding can be improved to attract riders.
The virtual open house will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday via Zoom. Registration is required.
