The county’s Department of Transportation began its annual Residential Street Sweeping Program on Monday.
Running through June, the campaign encompasses over 4,100 lane miles of residential roadways in Montgomery County.
Last year, MCDOT crews collected and removed more than 800 tons of debris. The sweeping routes are prioritized based on their proximity to sensitive watershed areas identified by the county’s Department of Environmental Protection.
“These efforts help to promote the health and vibrancy of local watersheds and the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay,” MCDOT said in a press release.
The Department of Transportation will post “No Parking” signs a few days before sweeping operations commence. Residents can access the sweeping schedule online by visiting the Residential Street Sweeping Program website or contacting MC311.
