Montgomery County is looking for a few good Thanksgiving marchers.
Well, more than a few, really, and floats and vehicles also are welcome to register for the 20th annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade.
The parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 and will step off in downtown Silver Spring at 10 a.m. sharp. Once again, News Channel 8 will televise the parade live, and rerun it on Thanksgiving Day.
The parade route is one mile long, beginning at Veterans Plaza and ending at Georgia and Silver Spring avenues.
There is no charge to participate in the event. However, businesses are required to create or sponsor a float, have an unusual car decorated for the parade, or walk with a giant helium balloon in order to participate.
Applications are due Sept. 18; late applications will not be accepted.
Completed applications can be sent to Montgomery County Recreation, 4010 Randolph Rd., Silver Spring, MD 209012 or faxed to 240.777.6962. Electronic submissions may be sent to [email protected].
Because the parade is part of a live broadcast, the county reserves the right to limit the number of participants and may not accept all applications.
