Registration for County Summer Camps Begins Next Week

There may be plenty of snow on the ground, but parents can begin thinking about the county’s summer camp opportunities for children now.

Registration for both the Recreation Department and Montgomery Parks summer camps begins one week from today—Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The guide to the camps being offered this year is online; printed copies of the guides also are available at recreation and aquatic facilities around the county and include registration forms.

The Recreation Department offers more than 150 camps covering interest areas including art, music, dance, cooking, STEM, filmmaking, sports, therapeutic recreation and more.

Montgomery Parks offers outdoor sports camps, as well as adventure, science and nature camps.

Parents can register for camps online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. Registration is also available by mail, by faxing a completed registration to 240.777.6818, or in person at most recreation and parks facilities including community recreation centers, ice rinks, tennis centers, aquatic facilities, the Montgomery County Recreation administrative office at 4010 Randolph Rd. and the Montgomery Parks Hillandale Park office at 10611 New Hampshire Ave.

Early bird registration, which will save $25 off selected camps, will run until Friday, April 5.

The Recreation Department will host a free summer camp fair on Saturday, Jan. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, located at 13850 Travilah Rd.

At the fair, parents can meet with recreation camp staff and instructors, ask questions, participate in demonstrations and register children for camp. Information on financial aid also will be available.
