Posters have begun appearing in Silver Spring neighborhoods announcing the annual vacuum leaf collection, which will begin Nov. 7.

The county plans two rounds of collections, with a third one possible if needed.

The leaf vacuum collection district is defined by I-495, I-270, the Rockville city limits, Norbeck, Bel Pre and Bonifant roads, Northwest Branch Park, and the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County lines.

As the posters demonstrate, residents should place leaves near, but not in, the street and avoid piling them near storm drains, rain gardens or bike lanes.

The Division of Highway Services’ website has the map of affected neighborhoods and the planned pickup schedule for each, which is ultimately dependent on weather conditions and is subject to change.
