Detectives from the county’s police department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Silver Spring woman who has been missing since Friday afternoon. Mingling Chen, age 78, was last seen leaving the 1500 block of Forest Glen Road on the afternoon of Friday, October 8, and may be in the Rockville area, trying to get into D.C.
Ride On Schedule Changes Take Effect Sunday
Changes to 64 Ride On bus routes will take effect this Sunday, October 10, county officials announced. 25 routes that have higher ridership will see increased trips, and service after midnight will be reinstated for all routes which operated those hours prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DoubleTree by Hilton Silver Spring DC North is now open, according to a joint announcement from DoubleTree by Hilton and new operator Linchris Hotel Corporation. The hotel, located at 8777 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring, operated temporarily as Hotel Silver Spring after it was acquired by Plymouth, Mass.-based Linchris over the summer.
County Will Add New Vaccination Site in Silver Spring Next Week
The county will add new COVID-19 vaccination sites to those it already operates in anticipation of increased demand for booster shots. One of the new sites will be located in the Silver Spring Civic Building, 1 Veterans Plaza, as of Monday, Oct. 11.

County Executive Recommends $1 Standard Fare for Ride On
County Executive Marc Elrich is recommending that standard Ride On fares be set at $1 and the continuation of fare-free programs such as Kids Ride Free and Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Ride Free.
