A restaurateur with deep local roots is bringing his newest creation home to Silver Spring. Jeffeary Miskiri, who founded Miskiri Hospitality Group earlier this year, plans to open Miss Toya’s Creole House in the space formerly occupied by Eggspectation at 923 Ellsworth Dr.
The County Council yesterday overrode by a vote of 8-1 the county executive’s veto of a bill that would establish a business improvement district in downtown Silver Spring; Councilmember Will Jawando (D-At Large) was the sole “no” vote.
The County Council yesterday voted unanimously to approve a resolution calling for the Ride On fare holiday to be extended through Jan. 1, 2022. “Free and reliable public transportation is an equity issue,” said Councilmember Evan Glass (D-At-Large).
The County Council plans to vote on a resolution to extend the Ride On system’s fare holiday to Jan. 1, 2022. The resolution will be introduced today (Sept. 28) at 1:30 p.m., and a public hearing will follow, prior to the vote.

COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are now available in the county for those who are 65 or older and got two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and certain other groups, county officials announced.
Two Silver Spring-based nonprofit groups have been awarded High Impact Grants, two of the 108 recipients of awards from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation. The grants were part of the $3.3 million MoCo Economic Development Grant Program for Nonprofits that the MCEDC accepted applications for earlier this year.
