Two Silver Spring Nonprofits Win MCEDC “High Impact” Grants

Two Silver Spring-based nonprofit groups have been awarded High Impact Grants, two of the 108 recipients of awards from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation. The grants were part of the $3.3 million MoCo Economic Development Grant Program for Nonprofits that the MCEDC accepted applications for earlier this year.

Police Investigating Fraud in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating the July 12 and July 15 reports of fraud at an apartment building in the 1900 block of East-West Highway. Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify her.

Meals On Wheels Marks 50th Anniversary, Adds Vegetarian Options

Meals on Wheels of Takoma Park/Silver Spring marked its 50th anniversary, adding vegetarian meal options for its area clients. The organization began hearing of the demand from its clients, who are homebound neighbors regardless of their age or income level, and have added the menu items to meet those needs.

Zinnia Announces October 1 Opening

Zinnia will open its doors on Friday, October 1, the restaurant announced on its Instagram account last evening. The new restaurant from Takoma Bev. Co. owner Chris Brown will open at the former location of Mrs. K’s Toll House, at the intersection of Colesville Road and Dale Drive in Silver Spring.
