Planners Identify Four Themes to Guide Silver Spring Planning Process

The county’s Planning Department staff identified four themes that will guide the next stage in the process of developing a new Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities sector plan. The four themes—diversity, resiliency, connectivity and community health—grew out of a series of online meetings and other conversations during the “visioning” portion of the planning process, which took place in the spring.

A GoFundMe campaign began yesterday for the owner of a food truck stolen over Memorial Day weekend from its parking spot on Brookville Road in Silver Spring. James Turner, a restaurant veteran with more than 30 years of experience, had recently received a license from the county to begin operating as Beltway Bistro when the vehicle was taken.

Takoma Park Police Issue Warning About Medicaid Scam

The Takoma Park Police Department has issued a community advisory warning residents about a Medicaid scam. In this case, a caller cloned a phone number that showed the call purportedly coming from the police and pretended to be a Medicaid employee.

NDC Rescinds Cease and Desist Order Against TPSS Co-op

The Neighborhood Development Company has rescinded a cease and desist order directing the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Co-op to stop using the public lot at Takoma Junction for deliveries and terminating the co-op’s lease on the lot, according to a company statement.
