Local Special Events Set for New Year’s Eve

Don’t have plans for New Year’s Eve yet? Here’s a sampling of local special events set for tomorrow night.

Silver Spring’s newest music venue, Silver Strings (8630 Colesville Rd.), will feature two seatings and two musical groups.

The Petkoff Jazz Trio, with vocalist Sarah Laven Jones, will play from 6–9 p.m. Purple Time of Day, a Prince tribute band, will take over the floor for the late shift.

Both seatings will include a three-course dinner, with dessert and champagne or sparkling cider, with choices from a special New Year’s Eve menu.

The first seating is $45 for an individual and $80 per couple, while the second is $55 for an individual and $100 for a couple.

The D.C. Blues Society will hold its annual New Year’s Eve celebration at the Cissel-Saxon American Legion (905 Sligo Ave.) with Mark Wenner’s Blues Warriors. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and music starts at 8:30.

Advance tickets are $40 for society members and $45 for nonmembers. At the door, the price will be $45 for members, $50 for nonmembers. The cover price includes a midnight champagne toast; a cash bar will be available.

Denizens Brewing Co. (1115 East-West Highway) will mark New Beer’s Eve from 9 p.m.– 1 a.m. The $60 cover includes tax and gratuity and buys patrons an appetizer buffet, open bar with beer, wine and mead, a champagne toast at midnight, and music by Les the DJ.

Over at All Set Restaurant & Bar (8630 Fenton St), Chef Edward Reavis has created a prix fixe menu with three courses for $55 (excluding beverages, tax or gratuity).

Beginning at 10 p.m., Haus of Stone will perform a Roaring 20s drag show, with games and more until 1:30 a.m. General admission to the show is $20, and All Set is offering a show/unlimited beverage package for $60.

The evening’s celebration from 8 p.m.–1 a.m. at Silver Branch Brewing Co. (8401 Colesville Rd.) includes a long list of what they’re calling “all-star” draft beers, heavy appetizers, an open bar, music from Smile & Wave, and a champagne toast for $75 per person.
