Silver Spring’s second medical marijuana dispensary, HerbaFi, will celebrate its grand opening this weekend, May 19 and 20, according to Terry Saad, director of operations.

The company, founded by Saad’s wife, Zeina Frayha, will set up tents in the parking lot between the dispensary at 8413 Ramsey Ave. and the new Tacos, Tortas & Tequila/Buena Vida next door.

Visitors can enjoy food and music, Saad said, and registered patients can spin for prizes each day.

“We have something where they can spin a wheel,” Saad said, “and if you hit the grand prize, we’re going to give away a 50-inch TV.”

Other winners will receive a Pax3 (a high-end vaporizer for cannabis consumption) or a $250 gift certificate to the dispensary.

HerbaFi had a soft opening this past week and is accepting patients, who can register in person. Only registered patients can enter the dispensary.

Despite the continuing gloomy weather reports, “we’re still going to be open and we’re still going to have the party, Saad said. “We expect a much lower turnout on Saturday because of the rain, but we’re still going to go on with the party.”

Normal business hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. seven days a week, However, the grand opening party will be held Saturday and Sunday from 1-4:20 p.m.

4:20 was chosen because of its significance in the cannabis culture, Saad said.

“4:20 is a reference to when people should go and smoke,” he said. “Instead of saying 1-4, we thought it would be more symbolic if we picked 4:20.”

It may also be symbolic that the phone interview with Saad for this story lasted—unplanned—exactly four minutes and 20 seconds.
