Liquor License Hearing Set for New Lounge on Bonifant Street

The county’s Board of License Commissioners will hold a hearing on a liquor license application for a new bar/restaurant in the former location of Pennyworth Thrift Shop at 949 Bonifant St.

The applicant, Kaleb Tadele, has applied for a “Class B, Beer, Wine, and Liquor License, On Sale Only” license. The license permits alcohol sales from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day, each day including Sunday, and on Friday and Saturday to 3 a.m.

The restaurant will be named Hug Lounge, according to the application, with seating for up to 35 people. Plans include serving tibse and kitfo, along with chicken, steak, vegetable dishes and fries, Tadele wrote.

The lounge will be open at 11 a.m. each day, closing at 2 a.m. weekdays and 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tadele lists an address in Catonsville, Md. as his current residence while adding he lived in Montgomery County for 10 years.

The hearing will be held by teleconference and is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3.
