Children from preschoolers to age 12 can earn a free meal at McGinty’s Public House, simply by completing the Random Act of Kindness Summer Challenge from Silver Spring Cares.
The non-profit has created two sets of challenge sheets, one for preschoolers and one for children ages 5-12, to complete. The sheets include 16 suggested, age-appropriate acts for children to undertake during August.
Once they’ve finished the challenge, they can take the completed sheet to McGinty’s any time from Aug. 27-31 for a free kids meal.
The suggestions for 5-12 year-olds include leaving water and a snack for the mail delivery person, holding a door open for someone, placing a “kind note” in a book for someone to find later, painting Kindness Rocks, learning about local non-profits, and others.
Silver Spring Cares also created a Pinterest page to accompany the challenge, offering how-tos and other ideas for acts of kindness.
The organization also would like to collect pictures and stories from children taking the challenge. They can be submitted via email to [email protected] or by U.S. Mail to:
