New Hot Dog Food Truck Hits the Streets of Silver Spring

Catalyst Hot Dogs, a new food truck that is “Bringing The Jersey Dog to The DMV,” is officially opening for business today in Silver Spring.

According to their website, the new food truck comes from Chris Van Jura, a nearly 20-year veteran of the Hospitality industry. “Our owner/operator, Chris Van Jura, has been a member of the Hospitality Industry for nearly 20 years. Over this time, he has done daily what every Hospitalian does, which is put the attention and focus on the guest. During this time, he has relocated to the DMV, found love, and started a family. He has devoted hundreds of hours to the needs of others—and now, through the pandemic and two layoffs, he has made a choice: We’re getting into the Hot Dog business!”

The menu, shown below, features several hot dog styles, including The Capital Dog, which features locally-produced Capital City Mambo Sauce and raw onions.

Catalyst Hot Dogs officially opens at 11 a.m. today, setting up shop at 2900 Broadbirch Drive in Silver Spring, near Home Depot. According to their Instagram post, they plan to also operate in Washington, D.C., but starting with Montgomery County: “We will be open M-F from 11-3 … we hope to be in DC in January but are rolling out here in MoCo to start.”
