Police Investigating Armed Robbery in Downtown Silver Spring; Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District are investigating the armed robbery of a male that occurred in downtown Silver Spring. MCPD has released a video of the incident captured by the victim’s dashcam and is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On Friday, December 18, at approximately 6:53 p.m., the victim was feeding a parking meter at the public parking garage located at 8110 Fenton Street when he was approached by the suspect, according to an MCPD press release. The suspect, described as a short, heavy-set black male in his late 20s to early 30s, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his wallet. Because the victim did not have his wallet, the suspect demanded the victim’s phone and passcode. The suspect threatened to kill the victim multiple times during the robbery. The suspect was last seen entering the driver’s seat of a dark color SUV.

Anyone with information about this suspect is encouraged to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.
