Detectives Seek Help Identifying Suspects in 21 Thefts from Vehicles

County detectives from the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects in thefts from 21 vehicles in several garages in the Central Business District.

Police released surveillance photos of three male suspects in the incidents, which all occurred on the same day in December.

“During the late evening hours of December 22, 2020, several suspects were observed breaking into a vehicle in the parking garage located at 786 Ellsworth Drive,” according to a press release. “A witness called 9-1-1 but the suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. Investigators determined that the suspects had been in the Ellsworth Place mall located at 8661 Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring just prior to committing the theft.”

Police believe the suspects could be responsible for some or all of the thefts.

Police ask that anyone with information about these suspects call the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240.773.6830.

Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1.866.411.TIPS (8477) or submit a Crime Solvers tip online or via the app.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.
