Suspect Steals $100,000 Worth of Jewelry During Ellsworth Place Store Burglary; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a burglary that occurred at a jewelry store inside Ellsworth Place in downtown Silver Spring.

On Saturday, February 13, officers responded to a burglary alarm at the TG Jewelers inside Ellsworth Place, according to MCPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti. The officers found broken locks on many of the display cases and the store in disarray. Mall surveillance video shows the suspect entering a maintenance door adjacent to the business at approximately 9:30 am and forcing entry into the store by kicking through the drywall. He then can be seen forcing open display cases and leaving the store with jewelry, exiting the mall using a hallway stairwell.

Police say that the suspect stole approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry during the burglary. Detectives obtained additional video of the suspect in the mall in the days prior to the burglary, and have also located video of his vehicle.

Anyone with information about this suspect or burglary is asked to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6886. Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), online, or via the Crime Solvers app. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided that leads to an arrest in this case.
