Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will open an outlet at 8401 Georgia Ave., according to a “Coming Soon” sign now posted in the window.
Construction has been underway for several weeks to convert the space formerly occupied by Bombay Gaylord.
Bombay Gaylord closed following a fire in 2015. Chef/owner Kalistus Gomes eventually decided to relocate to Olney and opened Nirvana in 2018.
The quick-serve chicken restaurant was founded in a New Orleans suburb in 1972 and currently has more than 2,700 outlets around the country, many of them local franchises.
The menu features Cajun-spiced fried chicken and tenders, along with biscuits and other side orders.
Numerous attempts by the Source to contact someone connected to the restaurant for more information have been unsuccessful.
