Will Ferguson, who works at Locavino wine café in Downtown Silver Spring, is one of several LGBTQ+ individuals active in the wine community featured in the latest issue of Wine Enthusiast.
Ferguson is described as a wine writer/influencer “tackling diversity issues, discrimination and wine tasting with equal enthusiasm on their Instagram feed, @Queerwino.” Ferguson is also active on Twitter @queertheyare.
The magazine chose during Pride Month in June to feature members of the LGBTQ+ community “who help to create a more inclusive industry from different segments of the wine world.”
The article notes that they hold a certification from Wine & Spirit Education Trust and is training to become a buyer for Locavino.
And when Ferguson found out they would be included in the magazine, they asked local photographer Jonna Michelle, who blogs at The Sligo Creek Photographer on her website, to take the photo that accompanies the article, similar to the one above.
