Levine Music, which operates classrooms and studios on the second floor of the Silver Spring Library at 900 Wayne Ave., announced the appointment of a new president and CEO.
Jeffery L. Tribble Jr., the founding executive director of Washington-area non-profit The MusicianShip, will succeed Peter Jablow, who will retire after 18 years as Levine’s head.
The MusicianShip has worked for 12 years to provide music lessons, experiences, and opportunities for underserved communities in four countries. Under Tribble, the nonprofit acquired The Washington Youth Choir, the Wammie Awards, and the D.C. Funk Parade, preserving those local music institutions.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Jeffery is coming on board. He is a visionary leader with deep ties within the D.C. arts community,” Craig Benson, Levine Music board chair, said in a press release. “He is uniquely positioned to lead Levine Music as we continue to be a leading center for music education in the national capital region.”
Tribble holds a degree from The George Washington University Law School. He received his undergraduate degree in legal communications from Howard University, which he attended on a four-year music scholarship. At Howard, he was a percussion section leader for the university’s Showtime Marching Band.
Tribble, named in 2016 as one of Magic Johnson’s 32 Under 32 and as a Black Enterprise Magazine BE Modern Man, currently lives in the District with his wife, BreAnna Davis Tribble, and their newborn son. His appointment is effective on July 1.
