Detectives Release Photos, Ask for Help Identifying Carjacking Suspect

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division have released surveillance photos of one of the two suspects in an attempted Silver Spring carjacking and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

The incident occurred at about 8:35 a.m. on Friday, June 18 at the parking garage at 8700 Cameron Street. A female victim had parked her car and was approached by the suspects after she got out of it.

“One suspect demanded her vehicle keys and assaulted the victim,” according to a department press release. “During the attempted carjacking, another vehicle pulled into the parking garage and approached the area where the victim had parked.”

The suspects fled on foot after seeing the second car and did not steal any of the victim’s property.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the attempted carjacking should call the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5100.
