The Angry Jerk, featuring “authentic Caribbean cuisine,” will open at 4 p.m. today (July 21), according to a spokesperson for the restaurant.
The menu features jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken with roasted carrots and gravy, along with jerk salmon as well as jerk or fried snapper.
Sides include several types of rice dishes and slaws, plantains, yucca, mac and cheese, and roti doe.
Jason Miskiri, a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School and founder of The Society Restaurant and Lounge on Georgia Avenue, owns the restaurant.
“We are excited to be in the Silver Spring community,” Miskiri said in an email. “It is our mission to provide quality food options for the community.”
The Angry Jerk took over the former location of The Big Greek Café at 8223 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring. The Big Greek Café moved down the street to the former home of Fat Fingers at 8213 Georgia Ave. last summer.
The restaurant’s normal operating hours will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
