Dog Haus Biergarten’s opening in Downtown Silver Spring appears to be imminent.
The restaurant, which specializes in gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers, will be located at 933 Ellsworth Dr. in the space formerly occupied by Lebanese Taverna, which moved to 8535 Fenton Street in 2019.
The restaurant has been open for delivery for several days in order to train the staff and will be opening for indoor dining “soon,” according to a message sent to the Source.
The Google listing for the restaurant points to a December 15 opening, and a Facebook post from November directs customers to sign up for email or text updates.
Dog Haus first opened in 2010 in Pasadena, Calif. and began franchising in 2013. Currently, there are more than 35 restaurants open, with more “coming soon,” and more than 130 locations sold to franchisees, according to the company website.
The menu features dogs, sausages and burgers, as well as plant-based options with a variety of toppings. For example, the Thai Fighter includes spicy Thai currywurst, wild arugula, pickled jalapenos and spicy basil aioli, while the Downtown is a smoked bacon-wrapped dog, caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard and ketchup.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Dog Haus to Downtown Silver Spring,” Yankowski said in an email to the Source last March. “They will be a great addition to the area.”
Dog Haus is one of several recent and upcoming restaurant openings in Silver Spring, including Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Willie T’s Seafood Shack/Be Right Burger, J. Hollinger’s, Underground Pizza Company, Kusshi Ko, Firepan Korean BBQ, Miss Toya’s Creole House, Flip’d by IHOP, and the Commas food hall at Ellsworth Place.
