A car fire at a Sunoco gas station at the beginning of rush hour closed the intersection of Colesville Road and East-West Highway in downtown Silver Spring.
A vehicle caught fire this morning at a gas pump at the Sunoco gas station, located at 8384 Colesville Rd., according to Montgomery County Fire spokesperson Pete Piringer. A station attendant shut off the gas pump prior to the fire department’s arrival. No injuries were reported.
The county’s Office of Emergency Management tweeted that the fire department’s activity may cause an extended closure of the intersection, and motorists should consider an alternative route of travel.
