The car fire that occurred this morning at the Sunoco gas station in Silver Spring is now being investigated as arson, according to a tweet from Montgomery County Fire spokesperson Pete Piringer.
Firefighters were originally dispatched to the Sunoco at 8384 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring around 7:20 a.m. this morning, according to Piringer. Damage to 2 fuel pumps, 2 vehicles, and the gas station’s canopy is estimated to be approximately $100,000.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact MFCRS Fire/Explosive investigators at (240) 777-2263 or local police.
