The Unleashed by Petco store at 8412 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring will be closing, according to signage posted at the store.
An employee working at the store said this morning said the store’s last day of operations will be January 28, and the store is currently selling off all its fixtures. Inventory will be marked down, though it’s unclear as to how much the merchandise will be discounted. ARLnow reported last year that merchandise was marked down 10-50% when the Pentagon Row store closed in January of 2021.
Unleashed by Petco, which opened in downtown Silver Spring at the former Silver Spring Post Office in 2015, is a smaller-format version of Petco’s big-box stores, according to Bethesda Beat. “Unleashed by Petco combines the personal commitment, intimacy and expertise of a neighborhood pet store with the price/value and rewards of a national retailer,” reads the company’s website.
Update 1/14/22 6:30 a.m. — PoPville is reporting that the Navy Yard location is also closing on January 28.
