Police Release Surveillance Video of Suspect in Downtown Silver Spring Burglary

Detectives from the county’s 3rd District Investigative Section are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect caught on surveillance video during a December 1 commercial burglary in the 8200 block of Dixon Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.

“On December 2, 3rd District Officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary that occurred earlier,” reads an MCPD news release.

“The investigation by detectives has determined that on December 1, the suspect entered an unlocked construction trailer and stole a power tool and electronic equipment. The suspect then fled the scene with the stolen property.

“Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the construction site and obtained a physical description of the suspect. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, medium build, with black hair, carrying a black backpack and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and New Balance shoes.

“Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this crime is asked to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870 or 240-773-TIPS, or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.”
