Silver Branch Brewing announced that the brewery would retire its legacy India pale ale in favor of a new release that has been developed following a year of research and consumer testing.
The brewery will retire Quantum Shift IPA and release Dr. Juicy on March 1 to coincide with the company’s third anniversary, officially on March 3.
Dr. Juicy was developed following the creation of two trial recipes, known as A and Z, that was shared with beer fans to compare and provide feedback on the favorite version, as well as input on the can label design and overall appearance.
“We received hundreds of thoughtful and well-articulated responses that helped us dial in a recipe that we believe is going to make a lot of IPA lovers really happy. We really enjoyed hearing what people had to say, and we received a lot of great compliments on our new IPA,” Erin Young, Silver Branch marketing manager said in a press release.
“We took our favorite aspects from Trial A and Trial Z and formulated to them to represent the best of both offerings,” added Chris Broome, head brewer. The brew takes the hop profile from Z and a malt profile similar to A with an added Mosaic Spectrum hop extract to help create the juiciness that gives the brew its name.
“Much of the foundational research that has led the Silver Branch team to creating Dr. Juicy was a direct result of the many iterations of Quantum Shift that were created,” the company said.
“Given our explosive wholesale growth over the last two years, we need a more consistent offering for IPA lovers to keep coming back to,” said Christian Layke, co-founder and CEO.
The release on March 1 will also include $5 beer, wine, cocktails, and tacos as part of a weeklong anniversary celebration. Other events will include:
- Wednesday, 3/2 Elemental Trivia at 6:30, featuring Silver Branch history round
- Friday 3/4, “Lager Than Life” bash featuring gravity lager casks and live music from Hays Dowdy from 5-8 p.m., and
- Saturday 3/5, 3rd anniversary bash with a toast from co-founders Brett Robison and Layke, bratwurst from the grill, and live music from Miss Moon Rising from 6-9 p.m.
