Firepan Korean BBQ is aiming for a May 1 opening but could be delayed to June, as the restaurant has experienced setbacks during buildout.
“We are adding more details for the bar and dining areas, and we have had some issues with the grease duct build to the roof of the building,” a company representative said to the Source via email.
The restaurant, located at the former home of Pete’s New Haven Apizza at 962 Wayne Ave. in downtown Silver Spring, initially targeted a Fall 2021 opening, then delayed to January and April. The Montgomery County Board of License Commissioners approved Firepan’s application for a liquor license last November, according to Bethesda Beat.
The downtown Silver Spring location will be the company’s second; Firepan’s original location opened in 2019 at Eden Center in Falls Church, Va.
