Report: Taylor Gourmet to Close All Locations

Taylor Gourmet, the fast-casual hoagie chain that started on H Street N.E in D.C., is closing all of its stores, according to a report in Washingtonian magazine.

The chain opened it first location in 2008 and expanded to 17 stores in the D.C. area and two in Chicago. The Silver Spring store at 8535 Fenton St. opened in April 2017 and was the second Maryland location.

The reasons for the closure are unclear. Sources told Washingtonian that the chain never recovered its sales, which slumped after owner Casey Patten met with President Donald Trump as part of a small business roundtable in January 2017.

Patten, however, told the Washington Business Journal that the chain expanded too fast; several sources told Washingtonian the same thing.

All the area stores are expected to close after Sunday.
