Three Local Restaurants to Have Liquor License Hearings Next Week

Three downtown Silver Spring restaurants will go before the Board of License Commissioners next week for hearings on their pending liquor license applications, according to the BLC agenda.

The first will be on the application by Danait Bezabh and Dawit Tekle, both of Potomac, on behalf of MDD Group, LLC for a transfer of a Class B, Beer, Wine, and Liquor License, On Sale Only.

The license would be for Ghar-E-Kabab at 944 Wayne Ave. where Bezabn would serve as general manager. The applicants intend to continue serving Indian and Nepalese cuisine, according to the application.

They also listed operating hours from 11:30 a.m.–2 a.m., which would be a change from the current 9 p.m. closing if implemented. However, a banner in the window reads Nexus Restaurant and Lounge, which could be an indication of intent to operate as a late-night club.

The second hearing will be on the application by Tone Chow of Clarksburg and An Lin (general manager) of Rockville on behalf of Kusshi Ko, LLC for a Class H, Beer and Wine License, On Sale Only, for Kusshi Ko at 8512 Fenton St. in the Downtown Silver Spring development.

Lin would serve as the restaurant’s general manager. Two other owners, Megan Huan of Clarksburg and Wesley Yao of North Bethesda, also are listed on the application. Potential operating hours are listed as Sunday–Wednesday from 10 a.m–1 a.m. and Thursday–Saturday until 2 a.m.

The final Silver Spring hearing is on the application by Carmen Sola (general manager) and Jose Sola, both of Silver Spring, on behalf of Guavaberry Dominican Restaurant, LLC, for a Class B, Beer, Wine and Liquor License, On Sale Only, for Guavaberry Dominican Bar & Restaurant located at 8417 Georgia Ave.

The application for the restaurant, which opened in March, lists potential operating hours as Sunday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–2 a.m., and Friday–Saturday until 3 a.m.

The full applications are available online.
