Silver Spring Man Killed in ATV Collision

Montgomery County Police say that they are investigating a fatal ATV collision that occurred Friday evening in the 1100 block of Briggs Chaney Road.

“Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the death of 52-year-old Paul Benedict Herbert, of Silver Spring, that occurred on June 3, 2022, in the 1100 block of Briggs Chaney Rd.,” MCPD said in a news release.

“At approximately 5:14 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of a single-vehicle collision that occurred on private property. The investigation by detectives has determined that Herbert was involved in a collision while on an ATV. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death. At this time, investigators have no reason to suspect foul play in this case. This is an active and ongoing investigation.”
