Two Arrested on Robbery, Theft and Fraud-Related Charges

Montgomery County Police say that they have arrested and charged 27-year-old Jaela M. White of Silver Spring and 25-year-old Ronald D. Thomas of Brandywine with robbery, theft, and fraud charges.

“On March 15, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue for the report of a robbery that just occurred,” MCPD said in a news release. “The investigation by detectives has determined that White and Thomas attacked the victim as she was walking towards her apartment complex in the 8200 block of Georgia Ave. They stole her personal property and damaged a package she was carrying before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

“Probable cause was developed to identify Jaela M. White and Ronald D. Thomas as the suspects. On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant, charging White and Thomas with robbery.

“During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that White had been engaged in fraudulent activity, including identity theft, credit card fraud, and apartment rental fraud. On May 24, 2022, White was also charged via an arrest warrant with multiple counts of possession of fictitious government identifications, selling false identifications, credit card theft/fraud, and theft charges.

“On March 28, 2022, Thomas was arrested in Virginia, on unrelated charges, and held without bond. On May 24, 2022, Thomas was extradited back to Maryland, where he was served with the robbery arrest warrant. He is currently being held without bond.

“On March 29, 2022, White was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit. On June 03, 2022, White was granted a $5,000 bond.”
