The building at 8237 Fenton St. that formerly housed Weller’s Dry Cleaning is now being marketed for lease, according to a listing on LoopNet.com, a commercial listings site.
The 3,758 sq. ft. building was built in 1960 in the mid-modern style known as Googie. It was designed by Ted Englehardt (1898-1980), founder and first president of the Potomac Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and is considered a rare example of the style.
The building will be delivered as is, empty of any equipment, with working heating and plumbing.
The landlord is asking $12.45 per square foot per year, or about $3,900 a month, and is seeking an initial lease of 18–24 months. The agent for the listing is Hannah McCann of Go Brent Realty.
Weller’s closed in April of this year.
