Locavino Wins Wine Spectator Award for Third Time

Silver Spring-based Locavino has been recognized with an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine for the third year in a row, co-owner Justin Wallace announced.

The café is one of 1,782 restaurants around the world to win the award this year, according to the magazine’s press release.

“We are extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish despite the hardships of the past few years. We hope our community knows that we aim to deliver a high level of fine dining quality at an affordable price,” Wallace said in the release.

“We look forward to next year as we strive to make the necessary additions to our menu in order to be considered for higher levels of recognition,” he added.

The magazine’s higher level of award includes the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award. The top level is typically given to restaurants with wine lists exceeding 1,000 labels.

“The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style,” according to the magazine.

Locavino, which first won the award in 2020, focuses on wines from Maryland, Italy and Spain. Washington Family Magazine recently named the café “Best Local Romantic Restaurant.”
