Organizers Accepting Applications for Annual Thanksgiving Parade Participants

The organizers of the county’s annual Thanksgiving Parade are now accepting applications for participants in the 2022 parade.

This year’s parade will be held in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 19 starting at 10 a.m. and remains the only Thanksgiving parade in the Washington area.

“Thanksgiving or holiday-themed units are welcome, as well as marching bands, multi-cultural groups, majorettes and baton twirlers, artists, clowns, dance and gymnastic troupes, floats, sports teams, costumed characters, beauty queens, classic car clubs and many types of innovative displays,” according to a press release.

They will join frequent participants including larger-than-life inflatable turkeys and penguins, floats, marching bands and colorful dancing groups.

The parade begins at Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street and heads south on Georgia Avenue, ending at Silver Spring Avenue. It annually attracts thousands of spectators to downtown Silver Spring.

More information, including an application form, is available online. Applications are due Sept. 19.
