Blair Grad Stars in “Lord of the Rings” Prequel Series

Actress and Montgomery Blair High School graduate Cynthia Addai-Robinson stars in the new “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” series, which premiered Thursday on Amazon Prime.

A series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books, “The Rings of Power” is set thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Born in London and raised in Silver Spring, Addai-Robinson graduated from Blair’s Magnet program in 1998. After attending NYU and graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, she appeared in films “The Accountant” (2016), “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013), “Columbiana” (2011), and The CW series “Arrow” (2013-2016).

“I was London-born but Silver Spring-raised, and proudly so; I was about 4 years old when my mother and I moved to Silver Spring, and very much spent my formative years there,” Addai-Robinson said in a WTOP interview. “I went to Montgomery Blair High School … I did all the school plays and productions, I was Annie in Blair’s production of ‘Annie!’”

WTOP’s entertainment editor Jason Fraley interviewed Addai-Robinson for the “Beyond the Fame” podcast.
