Silver Spring Man Arrested for July Gas Station Shooting

Montgomery County Police say that they have arrested a Silver Spring man in connection with a July 12 shooting at the Dash In gas station in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave.

20-year-old Abdulfata Sani has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and the use of a firearm while committing a violent felony. Sani was arrested last weekend as he was getting off a plane at Baltimore Washington International Airport.

“At approximately 8:06 p.m. on July 12, 3rd District officers responded to the Dash In gas station for the report of a shooting,” MCPD said in a press release. “Officers did not locate a victim at the scene. Shortly after the initial call, officers received a second call from an area hospital, for an individual who was dropped off at the hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. It was determined that this was the victim from the initial shooting call. Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section developed Sani as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.”

Sani is currently being held without bond.
