Police Investigating Attempted Armed Carjacking

Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect involved in an attempted carjacking that occurred on October 11 in the 8000 block of 13th Street in Silver Spring.

At approximately 8:41 p.m. on October 11, officers from the 3rd District responded to a report of an attempted armed carjacking. According to detectives, the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of her white 2022 Lexus RX350 when the suspect opened the driver’s side door, pointed a black handgun, and demanded the key to the vehicle. A suspect forcibly removed the victim from the Lexus when she refused to comply with the suspect’s demands and screamed for help. There were witnesses who intervened in the fight by shouting that they would call the police. After snatching the Lexus key from the victim, the suspect fled in a dark-colored Toyota.

According to MCPD, the suspect is described as being black, armed with a black handgun, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, slim build, approximately 25 years old, and wearing a black baseball cap and a green hooded sweatshirt.
